Laser hair removal for men

Laser hair removal for men is a well-established treatment and isn’t a novelty anymore. A significant portion of our clients are men.

Common laser hair removal treatments for men
Small areas - between the brows, the cheekbones (particularly for men who like to keep a beard), nostrils, ears, below the beard line or hair line (front of neck or back of neck)

Face - many men who shave struggle with bumps, spots, ingrown hairs, rashes and just the inconvenience of shaving. The hair in the beard area of a man is very coarse and so it tends to respond very well to laser treatment

Chest, stomach and back - many men who swim, holiday, work out or just prefer a smoother, hair free aesthetic have laser hair removal on these areas
Legs - either a full course of treatments to aim for smooth hair free legs or a short course of treatments to thin down leg hair

With laser hair removal, issues such as ingrowing hairs, beard bumps and rashes are really minimised if not eradicated and hair regrowth is significantly reduced by up to 90%

Benefits of laser hair removal for men

For men, shaving facial and neck areas can be quick but the regrowth can be just as quick in addition to which many men suffer from rashes, bumps and other issues from shaving.

For male body areas, shaving can cause discomfort and itching when there is regrowth and waxing can be really uncomfortable at the time of treatment.

With laser hair removal, issues such as ingrowing hairs, beard bumps and rashes are really minimised if not eradicated and hair regrowth is significantly reduced by up to 90%.

How many treatments are required

Laser hair removal works by targeting the hairs that are in the active growth phase. Since only a portion of hairs are in this phase at any one time, multiple treatments are required. For most laser hair removal treatments, a course of 6 will give a significant reduction although a further 2 plus treatments may be beneficial.

If you are simply looking to thin out hair on an area as opposed to completely remove it, then we will be able to advise you on roughly how many sessions may be required but somewhere in the region of 3-4 treatments is a guide.

An exact number of treatments cannot be given because there are so many factors that can influence this. We would be able to discuss this with you more at your consultation and we will continue to assess and discuss with you as you progress through your treatment journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal works by transmitting light energy which is absorbed by pigment in hair follicles and through this channel is able to denature the cells that are responsible for hair growth. The hair needs to be at the right stage of the hair growth cycle when treatment occurs for this to happen, this is why multiple treatments are needed.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Laser hair removal is a perfectly safe form of treatment. Lasers have been used in medical applications for decades. Laser hair removal simply targets the melanin in the hair and leaves the surrounding skin unharmed.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser hair removal treatment is often described as similar to the sensation of an elastic band flicking against the skin. The more treatments you have, the less you feel the treatment as there are fewer follicles to treat each time.
